My name is Laura. My experience of being a mother, and working closely with children, firstly as a volunteer and then as a teacher, since my late teens inspire my stories and poems. I am happiest amongst children, understanding how they tick and thinking about how to write to entertain and engage them. I love peeping into their imaginations and taking time to understand the viewpoints of children. I write to champion children and families, and all the worries, wobbles, quests and questions that go with being young.
But... I love to write for adults too. Younger, older and everyone in between. Learning about your stories, your memories and your feelings is a great privilege, and fitting them together like pieces of a jigsaw into a poem is a real joy. Memories can fade but your poem should last forever, and I hope it will bring you as much pleasure as the collaborative process of writing it will bring me.
